By Media Release from City of Santa Fe July 30, 2014
Condé Nast Traveler’s readers awarded Santa Fe the top spot on their “The 10 Best Small Cities in America” list.  Move over Napa, hit the road Telluride and so long Key West! Now everyone will know what Santa Fe has known all along…that we are the best.  The list is showcased online by the Huffington Post with the “City Different” topping locations such as Santa Barbara, Sedona and Aspen.

Readers cited the city’s unique beauty, colorful culture, unrivaled art and architecture as key reasons for their decision. Culinary experiences also received the high marks with colorful dishes of red and green chile leaving lasting impressions. Readers raved about the city’s culture touting the blended influences of Native American, Spanish, Anglo and Mexican traditions.

“Número Uno!” exclaimed Santa Fe Mayor Javier M. Gonzales. “It is an honor to be at the top of this impressive list. We work tirelessly to highlight and expand upon the creative, innovative and diverse attributes of our city; we hope everyone will seize the opportunity to take in one of our many markets, Railyard events or just grab a bite and enjoy some live music on The Plaza.”

Mayor Gonzales went on to say “Santa Fe is committed to not only celebrating our cultural richness but to enhancing the Santa Fe lifestyle of art, history, and natural beauty for locals as well as visitors.   This commitment as a community creates an authentic and welcoming travel experience.”
